Lesson 7 G Environmental survey. Speaking and listening followed by report W/S Learning objective: To be able to express preferences and give reasons for these preferences. Teaching points: As part of the field trip, children, working in pairs or groups, should complete an environmental survey sheet for a selected and specific part of the locality. In the classroom these should be discussed and analysed. What sections of the locality were the quietest? The cleanest? The best for playing in? Etc. Each group using the results of the survey to write a report on their ‘patch’ giving reasons for their judgements. Plenary: Results to be shared. Draw out as part of the discussion that certain areas have different uses and are necessarily unsuitable for certain activities. However certain factors, such as graffiti are unpleasant wherever there are found.
