Our School Day

The classroom doors open at 8.50am and the children can come in to do early morning work, such as maths, journal writing, reading e.t.c.

Start of the day: 9.00 a.m.

Doors close at 9.05 a.m. All children that are late must report to the Learning Mentors room.

Late children make classroom organisation and teaching difficult. Lateness also causes problems for school meals bookings. In addition, lateness affects your children’s progress in school as they may miss the important introductory parts of lessons. If you have ever been late for a meeting, you will know how hard it can be to catch up with what has happened. This is what it is like for children who are late. We do record lateness, and we work with the Educational Social work service to help overcome persistent lateness.

Finish: 3.20 p.m.KS1 and KS2

3.15 p.m. Reception and Nursery only

If you need to collect your child during the school day for an appointment, and when you return them afterwards, come to the school office and someone will bring your child to you.

Playtime

There are two play areas for the main school – one in KS1 and one for KS2. In both play areas there are picnic tables for those children who prefer to sit quietly, read or play tabletop type games.

Children in KS1 will be given fresh fruit or carrots at playtime. Children in KS2 may bring in a piece of fruit. Drinking water is available in both playgrounds and all the classrooms.

Foundation stage children have their own separate, secure playground.

Lunch times

Children may have a school meal, bring a packed lunch, or go home for lunch. If you wish to change options we need written notice before the half term ends in preparation for changing at the start of the next half term.

School meals are cooked on site each day and include a vegetarian option. Dinner money should be sent clearly labelled in an envelope on a Monday for the week ahead. We cannot provide meals without payment.

If you are entitled to free school meals, the borough authorisation must be received before we can provide a meal. It must also be kept up to date.

Children who go home for lunch need to be collected from the school office at 12.15 p.m. KS1 or 12.30 p.m. KS2 and returned at 1.30 p.m. for afternoon registration.
