Deansfield Primary School Governing Body

Deansfield is a friendly open school and the Governors work with the staff and parents in an atmosphere of co-operation to provide the best possible framework for educating our children.

Governors are involved in all aspects of school life and their duties include appointing staff, reviewing the school Development Plan and setting the school Budget.

Parent Governors are always available for discussions with parents and meet the Headteacher on a regular basis.

The whole governing body meets once a term. There are also regular committee meetings.

Looks at all aspects of managing school's delegated budget ensuring good value for money.	Responsible for decisions on major improvements to school premises, for example the recent installation of interactive whiteboards to all classrooms, and on-going repairs and maintenance,	Ensures school complies with employment legislation and deals with all aspects of staff organisation and improvement	Looks at all aspects of children's progress and achievements as well as new curriculum initiatives.

	The headteacher also meets half termly with elected parent governors to discuss all aspects of school life.
	Governors are encouraged to visit the school regularly to build up their knowledge of school life and to see how children are progressing.
