It's the Summer term and the last term in year 1.

We have been working hard and are making progress in all areas of the curriculum.
Here is a snapshot of what we are learning about:

Numeracy

This term we have already been working on our number sequencing and can now count in ones, twos, fives and tens. We are now working at counting in 3's. We are continuing to use strategies to solve problems. Use this link to see if you can solve these problems:

Literacy

This term we are looking at fantasy stories, Fact and Fiction and Poems on a theme. We now know every fantasy should have a setting, characters and a problem. Can you write your own story at home?

Don't forget to use VCOP in your writing and to uplevel your work.

                                                             Geography

The children have been learning about their local area and maps. We are going to go on a local area walk to look at the different features of Plumstead. What is your address? Can you find it on google maps? What is your favourite part in your area and what would you like to change?

History

We will be looking at toys from the past. Ask your family what use to be their favourite toy. What was it made of? Even better.....bring in something very old to share.

Science

Science are going to be very, very exiting. Yes, it is about GROWING! You will have the challenge to grow 2 different beans. We will do lots of observation and predictions. What do you thing plants need to grow?

Homework

Homework is very important in year 1. It should be short, daily sessions of reading and learning spellings.
