Improvements to Accommodation - Our Own School Hall!!
Dear Parents
As Chair of Governors, I have written to you on a number of occassions regarding the improvements to the building and site.
I am absolutely delighted to inform you that late last month, Greenwich Council agreed to a major building programme costing in excess of two million pounds for our school. It means that, after many years of discussion and consultation, it has now finally been agreed that this school will get the accommodation, space and resources that it deserves.
The plan is to provide the school with its own hall, kitchen, teaching spaces, library and storage. These developments and improvements will have a positive impact on the current accommodation in as much as that space will be released for other activities. There is also a strong possibility that there may even be improved access onto the site.
There are, of course, some outstanding issues that will need to be resolved, most notably, planning, additional outside space and managing the school whilst these major works take place. Nothing that as a community we can’t overcome! It is also worth noting that the Council is fully supportive of this project and the funding will be available from April 2009.
I am led to believe, that the Local Authority is very keen to progress with the building work and get started as soon as is practically possible and there is an outside chance that the building works may be finished by September 2010.
Mr Segarty will keep parents fully informed of further developments through Headlines and once Governors have received a detailed presentation of the scheme I will arrange a meeting for parents where plans will be available, questions can be asked and suggestions/contributions made.
On a personal level I would like to thank both the Governors and Mr Segarty for their tenacity in pursuing this project. Mr Segarty in particular has left no stone unturned in his quest to secure the Council’s approval of the hall scheme.
Yours sincerely
Maria Vinante
