You've hit the panic!*? button

OK, OK, OK we're here... calm down. Chill. Take some deep breaths. Scream... well, only if you're alone on a distant hilltop.

You're not the first and you won't be the last... Been there, done that.

So, have a laugh...

Feeling better? Or, want to see some more?

Maths Panic, maths anxiety seem to be quite normal affecting lots and lots of people... including this maths teacher on occasion.

Year 8... AAAArrrghh*!***!!!. Then there's Year 9.....NNNNNOOOOooooo!!***!!!. And as for Year 7... put me in a white coat and take me away!

It's so common, academics have written articles about it. Here's one to read if you don't believe me...

The fact is maths never killed anyone... well it has actually. Sorry, that's not much comfort is it? But it was a long time ago.

At our school we don't execute pupils because of their maths... we discussed it, but decided it would be too expensive getting rid of the bodies. Overtime for teachers on night-shift. Union digging allowance. Laying new turf on the football pitch. Parents saying we're not doing more. You know the sort of thing. So, you're ok until we can get a government grant.

That was a joke!

I suggest you have a drink, a biscuit, even watch some telly! (Mum! Sir says I don't have to do my homework, he says I can watch TV!)

If you've genuinely given it your best have a quiet word with me in the next class. Or, send me an email if you wish.

You could also take a browse through some of the links... some can be fun, others might have a few clues.

Or, you could happily spend an hour giggling at the hundreds of cartoons taking a laugh at maths, all those who try to do it and all those who get thoroughly mixed up. You and me together.

Whatever... don't worry and have a good night's sleep. It really is not as bad as you think.
