In Year 6 we are busy all year through!
We spend our mornings working on literacy, numeracy, science/topic skills.
In literacy and numeracy we have a break from our classes and spend a few hours with other year 5&6 children and whoever our teacher may be.

Science happens 3-4 times a week in Yr 6
We spend part of the week learning important vocabulary that we may need for the area of science we are studying. The rest of our time is spent planning, conducting and drawing conclusions from investigations we have carried out! Look at this close-up of a stigma and pollen taken using the Digital Blue Microscope!

Year Six also work with other professionals who visit our school. This term we will be working with gospel tutors from igospel on a fun sing day! Some of us may decide to do our Bikeability and we will have talks with the instructors soon. A nutritionist will be working with us as part of our topic work on food!

We will all travel to Oasis Academy at the beginning of the year to take part in the Junior Citizens Programme. We will work with professionals from many different services for example the Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade, Parks Service, London Ambulance and Transport for London. We will be learning about how to stay safe in our local and wider community.

We all enjoy sport in year six and take advantage of all of the extra-curricular activities available. We are looking forward to trying out for the school and federation football and netball teams.

We enjoy going out into our local community and can't wait until Christmas when we will spend some time singing for elderly people around Edmonton.

To prepare us for our transfer to secondary school we all have the opportunity to spend some time there throughout Year 6. Last year, some of us spent 3 days at Edmonton County as part of a Partnership for Excellence programme. They thoroughly enjoyed sharing ideas with pupils from Galliard.

We are very responsible in year 6 and take on many jobs throughout school. Some of our positions of responsibility include: Tuck Shop monitors, KS1 buddies, Green Team, Office Monitors, ICT Monitors and library monitors – to name a few! We take our jobs very seriously and pride ourselves on hard work!
