Our statement on Safeguarding

Churchfield Primary School fully recognises its responsibility to provide a safe environment in which children can learn and develop. We have a Child Protection Policy that applies to all Staff, Governors and Volunteers working in the school. We practise safe recruitment by checking the suitability of staff and volunteers to work with children. We ensure that our Staff, Governors and Volunteers are made aware of child protection issues, familiar with school procedures for keeping children safe and fully aware of their responsibilities to be alert and act promptly when there are concerns.

We aim to maintain an environment where children feel secure, are encouraged to talk and are listened to. We ensure that children know there are adults in the school whom they can approach if they are worried. Through our PSHE curriculum, we provide opportunities for children to develop the skills they need to recognise and stay safe from abuse.
