Netball Club.
Churchfield Netball Club trains on a Tuesday evening after school. We have about 30 members of all different abilities. Our training sessions include how to attack and defend, shooting, passing the ball effectively, learning the rules and then we finish by using all of these skills in practice matches.
Playing in friendly matches against other schools is really good fun and allows us to meet children from other schools in Enfield. We recently played our 1st match and we won 5-1. We were very proud because we played together really well and used everything we had learnt to help us.
Netball is a good form of exercise and is a great team sport. One of the rules is that you cannot move with the ball. This means you have to communicate really well with the other team members so that they know who you will pass to.
Learning and remembering all of the rules is challenging. For example; you cannot run with the ball, you have a certain position and are only allowed in particular areas of the court, when you are defending the ball you must stand 3 feet away from the attacker, only 2 members of the team (the GA and GS) are allowed to take a shot at goal. Each team has 7 players on each side. We would recommend playing netball to anyone, both boys and girls!
