Looking at a map of the town of Southall (located in the western part of the London Borough of Ealing) it can be seen that the Great Western railway line divides the town into two main parts: to the south, what is sometimes referred to as ‘Old’ Southall, and to the north, the newer part of town where the Uxbridge Road follows the path of the old London-to-Oxford road. In addition, a more or less vertical north/south line can be drawn along Lady Margaret Road, down South Road and over the Station bridge, continuing along The Green, King Street and Adelaide Road. This north/south line and the railway line divide the town into four quarters, each of which provides an interesting one-day pilgrimage route. Clicking on the links below (or the corresponding button to the left) will take you to a schematic map of each of the tours. Brother Daniel designed the tours in his book so that each could be easily walked in one day. In addition, he had all of the tours begin at the railway station, the train from Paddington to Reading being an easy way for people to reach Southall. Please be patient, as the maps may take a while to load. Moving the pointer over the symbols on the maps will bring up a brief descriptive tag of the various stops on the tour; clicking on the number beside the various symbols will take you to that particular stop. |
