Welcome

Welcome to the West Twyford Primary School website. We hope that you enjoy visiting our website and find it both useful and interesting.

West Twyford is a one form intake school in West London. The present buildings were purpose built in 1967 and stand in grounds of more than two acres including a field on which a 200m track can be painted in summer.  There are three hard-surface playgrounds for nursery, infant and junior children. The PTA have provided two climbing frames and pirouettes.

Our mission statement says that at West Twyford Primary School ‘children come first’ – and they do! Our team of staff is committed to ensuring that this is true. We work hard to ensure that children are safe, happy and receiving an excellent education both in academic areas and in encouraging the personal growth that enhances and complements academic progress. The school is characterised by care, courtesy and respect.

We encourage our children to grow to participate positively and with enjoyment in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic society. We try to help them understand that all can make valuable and unique contributions to the world that they live in and later on will work in. We understand education to be a partnership between home and school with valued input from the governors and the wider community.

We feel that we strike a good balance between embracing new technologies and preserving valuable traditions that have developed within the school over the past decades. We have annual traditions such as the pancake races, sports and fun day and conker competitions with children participating as members of houses that foster team spirit.   We are a listening school and have a house council through which the children's ideas and suggestions are heard and considered by staff.

We have high expectations for all our pupils who are exposed to a broad, rich curriculum to enable each to reach his or her potential through learning from mistakes and developing good self-esteem. Achievements are celebrated in a weekly assembly and this provides encouragement to both those showing and those watching.

We hope that this is reflected on our website and invite you to look at the children’s work, at our extra-curricular opportunities and to see a school that provides a strong sense of belonging and fulfils its aims of being a school where children come first.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have or improvements you think we can make to the website.
