In 2006 we successfully applied to be part of the Creative Partnership group. The Creative Partnership works with selected schools on agreed projects which give children and staff fantastic opportunitites to work with a number of talented artists from many different fields. Mayfield was selected to be a Core school which means we receive additional funding and support from the Creative Partnership group. This is a fantastic opportunity for the staff and children of the school and we are all very excited about the forthcoming projects.

Our first year's work has just come to an end.  The children in year 1/ 2, 4 and 5/ 6 presented a dance that told the story of May Field and her box of maths tools that help her to solve problems.  But the Number Devil keeps confusing her....
	May Field now stands proudly in Willow Tree Walk and will become a focus of future maths trails and problem solving missions!
Can you solve the problem posed on the Big Fat Hen?
	What about logic and systematic working?  How can you be sure you have found all the clown face arrangements?
Have a go at the abacus problem...it's tricky!
	How would you solve the water jug problem?  How will you start?

And can you solve the milk crate problem - another logic activity requiring systematic working!
	How will you get the children safely across  the river?
There is so much to do at Mayfield!  We have explored problem solving and actively seek strategies to keep the Number Devil away!	What strategies would you give someone  working out any of these problems?
