Recording Achievements

A minimalist version

'The three legged stool'

The purpose of the recording system is to enable the:

  • statement of and evidencing of individual capability
  • exemplification of outcomes for staff and others
  • evaluation of provision to inform planning and the identification and sharing of resources

Recording achievements

Assuming that you follow the QCA Scheme of Work for ICT then there are three aspects to record:

1 QCA Expected Outcomes at three levels
Example Sheets (Set includes blank sheet for Reception on to which to move Units from Year 1)

Progression in ICT levels and description

Progression on the NC Action Site

Progression in ICT Greenwich LA

Greenwich Summary of Achievement sheets -one per year group

Use the appropriate sheet of expected outcomes for your Year group editing the lines to include the Units you are required to teach.

Use one sheet for the whole class for the whole year completing a line for each Unit as it is completed.

Record only the names of pupils whose outcomes are notewothy confirming the characteristics of the majority with a single comment under the best fit column.

2 ICT Capability
Example Sheets (First page is a recording sheet followed by pages arranged for copying into local documentation)

Greenwich Assessment page including Year 6 and other assessment tests

Use one copy for the whole class for the whole year updating on completion of each Unit.

Use the sheet to record capability as for expected outcomes sheet using individual names sparingly to note differences from norm for the group.

3 ICT Skills
You can record Outcomes and Capability as above and still find that pupils do not have the required set of skills to use a piece of software independently.

Example Sheet for Foundation Stage skills
Internet Skills a Becta Survey sheet for learners
Evaluating Internet Use Becta resources

Record skills development using sheets to suit school policy, arranged by specific skill or in terms of particular outcomes using the software.
