ICT Mark

Whole School Review supported by ICT

007333

The ICT Mark has now been launched following intensive work by a range of national agencies to bring together formerly disparate tools for evaluating aspects of ICT use and provision.

This partnership has included, amongst others, Becta, NCSL, QCA, DfES, OFSTED, the Training and Development Agency and the National Strategies. The breadth of involvement is intended to ensure that the ICT Mark and the attendant tools provided for schools to use in evaluating ICT become the basis for evaluating ICT use and provision in all schools and thus for evidencing ICT in their OFSTED Self Evaluation Form.

School approaches to using the Self-Review Framework.

The NCSL SLICT programme and their work on e-confident schools have also informed aspects of the framework.

enGuage try an alternative paradigm.

The resulting ICT MARK builds on and replaces the Naacemark which has been successful as a quality mark for ICT. The award recognises a school's success in developing a strategic approach to ICT use and provision. In Camden Swiss Cottage Special School has been awarded the mark.

Qualification criteria
In order to gain the new award, schools have to demonstrate that in addition to meeting the criteria set for Naacemark, they meet criteria focusing on the impact of ICT on:

  • pupils' progress in developing ICT capability
  • the impact of ICT on attitudes and behaviour and
  • pupils' progress in their wider learning, including creativity

The Self-review framework replaces the MATRIX evaluation tool.
