Governors' Support Team

How do Governors carry out their duties?

Most of the business conducted by governors is done at either full governing body meetings or committee meetings.

A lot of groundwork and preparation is done at committee meetings and then submitted to the full governing body for approval, for example the Finance Committee will do most of the work in setting out the school’s budget. The governing body will then be presented with the proposed budget for approval.

Each year the governing body selects a Chair and Vice-Chair. The Chair will conduct the business at governing body meetings and will work closely with the Headteacher and clerk in coordinating agendas and minutes.

Your governing body will also have an assigned Governor Support Officer (GSO) from the Camden Governor Support Team, who will arrange meetings, circulate agendas, take minutes and give advice to governing bodies.
