Meet the Teachers

Joanna Fox - Johnson
(Headteacher)

I am the Head of Bridge Education. We are set up to have pupils in Y10 and Y11 who do not have a school place. We aim to teach them in the core subjects and to make an assessment of where they have got to in the progress towards exams.
We operate just like a school and make every effort to assist with the process of reintegration back to school or on to college or apprenticeships or work.
I enjoy being able to look at pupils previous learning experiences and trying to get pupils to make as much progress as they can before they leave us. We also work with pupils to try and understand which careers they are interested in and how they can continue on to achieve their ambitions.
My subject area is English but I am very interested in Citizenship. I love Drama and go to the Theatre often. We have tried to make sure that Art and Music are also available to students as I believe that it is important for pupils to have an all round education. I have always taught and lived in London and am very proud of the city and its history.
I hope that everyone who attends Bridge will find us ready to work hard for them to make a real difference in their learning before they move forward to other places

Leo Latter

My name is Leo Latter and I am a teacher at Bridge Education. I teach ICT, Citizenship, Geography and PSHE. I have been a teacher for 10 years and have also worked in Education Welfare and Family Support.

I grew up in Islington and retain a strong affiliation to Arsenal Football Club!

I am committed to all young people achieving their potential and believe education is one of the key tools for achieving this. We are all learners.

I look forward to us working together in the future.

David Lyall

I’ve been a teacher for 18 years and have taught English in many Secondary schools in East and North London. I used to deliver poetry workshops for Islington EAZ and currently I work at THFC as Manager of the Study Centre teaching Literacy and Numeracy to Haringey children as part of the National ‘Playing for Success’ scheme. In my spare time I’m a writer of short stories and poetry and had a booklet of poems published in 2005 called ‘The Way Continents’. (Published by Flarestack ISBN available on request!)

Daniella McKay

As the Student Advocate with Bridge Education I offer support and guidance to pupils. I assist students in making school applications and re-integrating into mainstream schools. I take registration with students in the morning and you will find me in the School office throughout the day.

I interview pupils before they start with Bridge and induct them on arrival. So please do not hesitate to come to me with any queries during your time at Bridge. I also work with pupils to find work experience placements that support areas of interest and provide careers information to guide pupils into finding further education or training courses to suit.

Sharon Theodore

I joined LEA Camden 4 years ago and I enjoy very much working with my students. I teach them Maths and Business Studies. I find it very rewarding to be part of this crucial phase of their development.
