DIGITAL VIDEO PROJECT 6GP have been working on a digital video project with Ms Vanderpuye. The project took two terms to complete (from Autumn 04 to Spring 05) and incorporated many subject areas. At the start of the project our task was to create a photo story about Wembley Stadium called ‘Out with the old, in with the New’. We sequenced a number of pictures of old and new Wembley to tell the story of its rebuild. First we had to import the photos, movie clips and music into the collections folder. We used the internet to research some information about Wembley Stadium. We then added the information and some facts about the new stadium either, before, after or on the selected clip. We used Windows Movie Maker2 to edit, add transitions, film effects, titles and credits. When we were happy with the results we saved our work as a movie file. The second phase of our project was to film an advert to sell our school. Before we started filming using digital camcorders, we watched a streaming video on the Internet about advertising. It highlighted the important aspects and some negative features of advertising. We made notes as we watched the video. Next we drew a storyboard of what we wanted to include in our advert (the best features of our school). After that we watched number of old adverts to see how an advert is put together. We looked at how many shots there were, including the number of close-ups etc. We also wrote our own jingles before we started filming various aspects and activities around our school. In all we had about 45 minutes of video footage which we had to edit to one minute. TV adverts are normally short and snappy and gives its message in the first few seconds. Like before we added video transitions, video effects, information, our jingles which we recorded and music to complete our advert. What do you think of our finished results?
