Anthem

Written by Francesco Perri

Performed by Teachers and pupils from Oakington Manor

Many of you may have wondered how we came to have the opening song on our Homepage. Well, there is a really cool history behind the song. Many years ago our school was blessed with a very talented music teacher called Francesco Perri. His work with children was so full of singing energy, that he inspired singing from all areas of the school. Soon a Boys and Girls Choir were set up and singing became a wonderful expression for all pupils. Some staff members too, found their singing voices with Frank's encouragement and assemblies, Governors AGM meetings and other school based social evenings were filled with music and song.

As a talented musician, Frank could not sit back and watch the talent go by without creating some kind of permanent record of the truely harmonious sounds. So he took pen to paper and wrote a song for the staff and pupils. After writing the lyrics and the tune, a select number of children and staff whose voices melded together well were chosen to perform and record at Straylight Studios in Willesden.
