Week Two

We have just finished term 2 poetry.

Again the sessions went well and the children enjoyed the poems read aloud - although nearly all children in one set preferred then read in a boring way - because it was funnier! The poems were fun and engaged the children's interest and they enjoyed the pace and beat of them all.

It was still difficult to get through all the suggested activities in the time allowed and we would have preferred there to be more time to write a poem in the planning- rather than just one session on the friday. We would alter this next time.

It was virtually impossible to read the poem 'just wait' to the backing track provided - it would be good to hear someone do that!

Overall Year 3 have enjoyed using the technology - but we feel that we need to adapt it to our children and needs quite a lot. There is a lot of work that can be done around the text and teachers need to be clear what their learning intentions are before starting the programme. We will however use it next term!

I have spoken to Louise in Yr 4 and we are going to meet this week re trialling I Read in Yr 4 and using something different rather than the poetry sessions.
