Our School Aims
We, at Whitefield School, have a personal concern for each student and a commitment to ensure equal opportunities for all our students. We require the highest standards in both work and discipline. As a multi-ethnic school, we foster compassion, tolerance and respect for religious and moral values, which are intrinsic in the ethos of the School and curriculum.
Our mission is summed up in our motto of “Whitefield School for Respect and a Quality Education”.
We seek to:
- promote self-respect, respect for each other and respect for the School environment;
- promote the acquisition of knowledge and skills through a variety of challenging experiences;
- stimulate well-motivated students with lively and enquiring minds into developing responsibility for their own learning;
- develop qualities of self-reliance and enterprise;
- provide opportunities for all students to develop their interests, talents and leisure skills;
- extend their understanding of the world in which they live and to prepare them for adult life, work and citizenship;
As a school with specialisms in Sports (since 1999) and ICT, as second Target Subject (since 2007) we also strive to:
- provide a fully integrated education for our physically disabled students;
- provide a wide range of Physical Education and sports opportunities which are accessible and attractive to all our students, the pupils of the local cluster of primary schools, Mapledown Special School and the wider local community;
- utilise ICT in teaching and learning in a way that transforms the school as a learning institution, ensuring that the efficient promotion of problem solving and learning across the whole curriculum is prioritised.
