Copthall school takes great care to welcome new students into the community, making them feel secure and at home from their first day. Regular contact with local primary schools means that Copthall is already a familiar place to most girls.

Girls are initially placed into one of six mixed ability forms so that they settle easily into a secondary school environment. To help each girl to make maximum progress, the Mathematics and French departments set by ability at the end of the first term and in most subjects in Years 9-11.

Supported by a Head of Year who stays with the Year group throughout the lower and upper school, each form also has its own Form Teacher who looks after the girls' day-to-day needs by regular contact at assembly and through form periods. Both Head of Year and Form Teachers soon get to know girls well and students are encouraged to set their own targets and to take advantage of the school's many opportunities in order to achieve them. Copthall offers a well-rounded education where every girl has equal access to the full range of subjects and activities, which inspires them to develop their individual talents and strengths in safe and happy surroundings.

Copthall is committed to giving all students access to a broad curriculum. Our staff of highly qualified, dedicated personnel, blend youth and experience to provide a stimulating and challenging choice of subjects. Teachers employ a variety of teaching methods and techniques which interest and stretch girls to achieve their own personal best.
