The project was developed by a volunteer group of Yr 9 girls. The aim was to produce a play for the final Christmas Assembly. The girls worked mainly lunchtimes and after school. They prepared their own costumes, directed and filmed the scenes. The play takes part in a television studio, where characters from the Christmas story, Joseph, Mary and the Three Wise Men, were interviewed. Some of the scenes were performed live and some were recorded on digital camera.
The first scene takes part in Bethlehem, where a journalist is interviewing the shepherds, who witnessed the birth of Jesus. Therefore, we tried to recreate rural scene at night. The second video takes part on the street of Madrid. It has been filmed in the school playground. These videos will be available online shortly.

The final production was a multimedia event and the videos played pivotal role in the final production.

YEARS 7-9 Teach A Friend a Language  (TAFL)

Have you always wanted to learn a new language?
Do you like taking part in competitions?
Then this is an opportunity for you. The aim is for pairs of pupils to create a one minute presentation to sell a product of your choice in a foreign language (it could be a real or imaginary product). You could get lots of inspiration from TV adverts.
The
catch is one person needs to speak the language.

What you need to do
  1. To form a pair and decide on the language you wish to do the presentation in.
  2. Sign up on the list outside the MFL faculty office.
  3. Attend a short meeting to discuss the project
  4. Practise, Practise and Practise.
Attend a short meeting to discuss the project
Practise, Practise and Practise.
On the day you will also need to present a table to represent the country or community from which your language comes. That may include dressing up in national costumes, having national food for people to try, maps, music, pictures etc.

On the day you will perform your presentation to a judge who speaks the language that you have chosen. You will be judged on the presentation itself and the ability to speak the language. You will also be judged on your table.
It will be an exciting day and a good opportunity to see and celebrate the diversity of your school. During the day there will be quizzes and mini competitions and lots of opportunity to try exciting food.

Sign up today outside the MFL faculty.
Closing date for entrants is: to be announced
