return to main menu Leading Edge Sharing good practice with partnership schools The Compton School leads a collaborative of other schools in the borough. Representatives from each of the participating schools meet regularly to share strategies for raising achievement. Projects have included Emotional Intelligence, Accelerated Learning and Student Voice. The Student Voice project involves students taking responsibility for their own learning and it is now a model for other schools nationally. This year the Compton has designed a programme of twilight training sessions which take place on a weekly basis for all staff at the Compton and any staff from partnership schools. The sessions are delivered by staff from the Compton and have enabled us to address particularly, the e-learning needs of colleagues. The Compton is also leading the way with the development of a new vocational GCSE course in ICT, known as the DiDA. Semra Kazim, the Head of ICT regularly delivers training sessions to colleagues from other schools in the borough, and nationally, about procedures for implementing the course and other aspects of ICT. Teresa Tunnadine is Chair of the Secondary Heads Association for the borough. Teresa meets regularly with the other headteachers to consider ways of disseminating best parctice in schools. As a model for sharing good practice- teachers training other teachers- the partnership work is proving to be extremely effective. It has enabled the professional development of our own staff and supported the sharing of best practice. If you would like to find out any further information about our partnership work, please contact Louise Taylor at the school or via the website.
