return to main menu The Compton School Contract Welcome to The Compton School. We believe that, for every student to gain the maximum benefit from being here, parents, students and staff must work closely together. This contract is the basis of this vital partnership. Classwork Teachers will ensure that:
- work is clearly explained
- lessons are properly planned
- students receive regular feedback
- students are set targets which their individual learning needs so that they can achieve the maximum National Curriculum levels.
Students will :
- work to the best of their ability at all times
- seek help where they find the work difficult
- work towards targets set by subject staff
Parents will:
- ask their children to bring work home and talk to them about what they are doing at least once a week
- be expected to support the school if requests for external specialist help or advice are considered essential to the progress and welfare of their son or daughter
Homework Teachers will:
A homework timetable will be issued to parents and all students will be issued with homework diaries called planners and tutors will sign the planner weekly Students will:
- set aside a regular time for homework each weekday evening
- complete homework to the best of their ability
- ensure that they hand in all their homework on time
Parents will:
- check planners against the homework timetable
- sign the planners diary weekly
- ensure that a regular time and place is set aside at home for homework
Reports to Parents, Academic Review Days and Parents' Evenings The school will:
- issue at least one set of interim reports and one annual report each year
- arrange Academic Review Day
- arrange one Parents' Evening Years 7, 10 and 11
- provide additional informal reports on student progress when needed or requested
Parents will:
- make every effort to attend Parents' Evenings
- contact the school beforehand if they are unable to do so and then arrange another time to discuss their child with the school
Students will:
- attend Academic Review Days and Parents' Evenings with their parents
- attend in uniform
- act on advice and comments given at these meetings and in their reports.
Discipline Teachers will:
- ensure that the school provides a well ordered atmosphere in which all students are able to learn
Students will:
- conduct themselves according to the School Code.
The School:
- reserves the right to detain students, without notice, for up to 20 minutes at the end of the day
- longer detentions will have at least a day's notice
- parents will be notified of longer detentions by phone or through the planner
Teachers, parents and students of the Compton School are totally opposed to bullying, racism and sexism and agree that incidents should be reported immediately and dealt with speedily and effectively. Teachers will report on the disciplinary action taken, to the victim and his/her parents. Equipment The School will:
- provide the best possible books and other resources.
Students:
- will be issued with a list of essential equipment for school
- are responsible for coming to school each day correctly equipped.
Parents will:
- ensure that their children are properly equipped for school daily
Uniform Teachers will:
Children will be detained after school and their parents notified where there are breaches of the uniform regulations. Students will:
- keep strictly to the uniform regulations
Parents will:
- ensure that their children have the correct uniform
- ensure that they wear it for school each day
The Environment The School will:
- provide adequate bins
- ensure graffiti is removed
Students will:
- at all times ensure that The Compton School is kept litter, chewing gum and graffiti free
Parents will:
- support any sanctions that may be imposed on students who drop litter and those who graffiti school property
- ensure that any damage to school property is paid for
