- When you start up your computer make sure that there is not a floppy disk inserted or a USB memory stick plugged in.
- Please make sure the Antivirus software is up-to-date. If at the bottom-right of your screen you have a yellow shield right click on it and choose “Open Symantec Antivirus…”, at the bottom-right of the new window check that the date is recent (3/4 days in the past should be all right). If at the bottom-right of your screen you have a blue shield hover your mouse pointer on it and wait until a text box with the date shows up check that the date is recent (3/4 days in the past should be all right).
- When you are working with many programs open at the same time (exp. Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer etc.) your computer may slow down or freeze. Is advisable that you work with not many programs open at the same time and to close the program once you have finished working with a file.
- When you double click an icon or a file to start a program wait for a bit before double clicking again. Your computer sometime needs time to process the information.
- Make sure you save all your files in one location (ex. My Documents), don’t save your files on the desktop on in some other folder.
- Make sure you frequently take a backup of your documents (Once a week), you can do that by copying your file on a USB memory stick, on a CD or on a zip disk if your computer is equipped with it. This is most important because if your computer hard drive fails there is no 100% method of retrieving your files.
