…The Location Click here for directions The two centres, opened by ILEA in 1970, Ty'n y Berth and Bryn Coedwig, are situated close to the village of Corris, just north of the market town of Machynlleth on the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park. This area of outstanding natural beauty that provides a wonderfully rich and varied learning environment. The Centre is surrounded by mountains carved and sculptured by glaciers, valleys with oak woodland, coniferous forests and crystal clear lakes and rivers. We are 12 miles from a coastline that offers sandy beaches, sea-cliffs, rock pools, sand dunes and two magnificent unspoilt estuaries |

…The Purpose Courses at Ty'n y Berth centre around the personal development of young people. We use various challenging and adventurous activities to allow those engaged to develop self esteem and increase confidence through the meeting of challenge, and by reflecting on achievement. Programmes are designed In consultation with staff, to ensure your course is tailor made with the needs of your students in mind. |

Layout TYB has a small playing field adjacent to the Centre, and backs onto open farmland which can be used for football & rounders etc. |

Bryn Coedwig
Bryn Coedwig has a small playground suitable for quick cricket etc, but is about 10 minutes walk form a riverside picnic site which can be used for ball games etc in the evenings. |

...The Experience We put great value in the whole residential experience. Whilst at TYB, students are asked to take responsibility for some of the domestic tasks associated with their stay. These include keeping areas tidy, making packed lunches…and a little washing up! |

A store room, containing all of the specialist equipment that your group will need, together with a spacious, efficient drying room is also available at each site for your use, together with an on-site pay-phone. Each centre has a small supply of leisure activities, including table football, giant jenga etc.

Group size & Transport Each site has two 17-seater minibuses. This gives each centre a carrying capacity of 34 people (including instructors). For larger groups, we recommend selecting a local activity on at least one of your days, which is not only solves transport problems, but also helps to minimise our impact on the environment

. …The Legislation! Ty'n y Berth is a licensed provider Outdoor and Adventurous Activities under the terms of the Adventurous Activities Licensing Act. (AALA) Staff hold Nationally recognised qualifications in Mountaineering, Mine Leadership and Rock Climbing. TYB is an approved provider of Mountain Leader Training England Courses. Staff at TYB are members of the Association of Mountain Instructors. Staff at TYB are members of the Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres. |
