Domain Name Hosting and Redirecting

A fairly common request from schools is to have their sch.uk domain name to redirect to their lgfl.net address so that either work.

There are 2 options if a school wants to do this:

• Their current host can redirect their sch.uk site to their lgfl.net address.
• Digitalbrain can host their sch.uk domain for them (cost £90.)

When the e-mail address isn’t involved, it is easier to simply get the host to redirect it.

Every school has a <school>.<la>.sch.uk style domain name available. Synetrix inherited these by default and host the majority of LA and sch.uk addresses. A few are hosted by other companies depending on what the school has done in the past and these will need to be contacted for a change.

What to do if your sch.uk is hosted by Synetrix

You will need the username and password for your sch.uk site:

1. Go to the site amin section and log in. (e.g. http://www.gillespie.islington.sch.uk/admin)

2. Click Properties, then Redirect URL and type in the lgfl.net address (e.g. http://www.gillespie.islington.lgfl.net)
