Irfan View www.irfanview.com This freeware utility started life as a graphics viewer to quickly browse folders of photos but has come a long way since. Not only can this resize your photos it can manipulate them in a host of ways, organise them into albums and even create panoramic photos. (Where you join 3 or 4 images together for a panorama.) Irfan View can be a bit intimidating due to there being so many options but it certainly does its job well. 1.) To resize an image or a collection of them go to the File menu and the batch conversion/rename option.
2.) Select the folder you want to look in and then select all the images you want to resize. You can do this by dragging and dropping them into the input files box on the left or just select the add all option. You can also set a destination directory for the processed images so it is possbile to convert an entire folder of images in one go and have them appear in a seperate location.
3.) Next you will need to set the size you want in the advanced options feature.Within this you can set the resizing options. Anything from 100-500 pixels would be appropriate. (N.B. The full width of a learning module page is 740 pixels. 738 if you take into account the two pixel border lines on each page.) Click OK and then Start.
