Best Value Technology (Primary & Secondary) – Paul Shoesmith
Paul is well known nationally and internationally as an education
technology strategy specialist. In his 18 years at Birmingham local
authority he designed, built and managed the Birmingham Grid for
Learning (for all Birmingham’s 450 schools). He then became Director
for Technical Strategy at Becta. In this session, Paul will challenge
thinking about the true costs of technology and shine the light on how
to get best value in schools. Paul is a Director of IET Associates

Leading creatively costs nothing - Marjorie Scardino
Marjorie Scardino is Chief Executive of Pearson, the international
education and media business made up of Pearson Education, Penguin and
the Financial Times Group. She is the first CEO of a UK FTSE 100
company, a role in which she has been particularly successful, and
listed by the Daily Mail as ‘the most powerful woman in Britain’.
Marjorie is a non-executive director of Nokia Corporation and a member
of a number of charitable and advisory boards including The MacArthur
Foundation, The Carter Center, Oxfam and The Victoria & Albert Museum.
In 2002, Queen Elizabeth II named Marjorie a Dame of the British Empire,
and in 2010 she was named a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and
Sciences.

E-safety 360 scheme - Ken Corish
Ken Corish is an E-Safety Consultant with South West Grid for Learning
and Chair of the highly successful E-Safety Development Group. His work
includes education programmes for students and staff that range from
cyber bullying to protecting professional identity, creation of school
improvement strategies and production of innovative E-Safety support
materials. In this session he provides an overview of the recent, award
