Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day - 5th February 2013

 

Safer Internet Day 2013 will take place on Tuesday 5 February 2013 and will be the tenth edition of the event. 
The theme is 'Online Rights and Responsibilities'  under the slogan 'Connect with respect'. For the latest information about Safer Internet Day 2013 in the UK go to the UK Safer Internet Centre website
 
Safer Internet Day (SID) is a great opportunity to raise awareness in schools about e-safety issues. The UK Safer Internet Centre runs this event annually with lots of suggestions , resources and ideas available online to support schools.
 
SID school resource packs - primary and secondary
Resources to use on the day/week for Primary and Secondary are now available. Classroom activities, staff guidance, an assembly, posters and a detailed lesson plan to help you mark the day in school. You can download a primary or a secondary school pack here: 2013 Resource Packs​
 
LGfL eSafety Survey
The new LGfL eSafety survey is an effective tool to support schools in preparing for this date and the regional results will be published online and at over 10,000 responses to date this will be a significant piece of research. ​Your own school's results can be obtained from your LA representative or from LGfL. The Survey will close on 28th February.

SID 2013 internet radio 
For a third year running the SIC will broadcast a marathon 12-hour live internet radio show dedicated to Safer Internet Day and the theme of online rights and responsibilities. Send in your questions for their panel of experts, and they will be answered during the Safer Internet Day radio programme on 5th February 2013. Young people's charter of 10 top online rights and responsibilities
A list of the "ten online rights and responsibilities" is being collated based on responses and feedback to the SIC. On the tenth anniversary of the day, 5th Feb 2013, they will deliver this statement of rights, with ten young people to a high profile politician in a high profile place.
