Launch The Holocaust Explained Resource
www.holocaust.lgfl.net

When this resource was launched Trudy Gold, Cheif Executive and Senior Historian at the London Jewish Cultural Centre gave a passionate speech that gave us all an opportunity to reflect and consider the role of education in raising awareness, increasing harmony and humanity in our schools and the wider community.

A short video from teachers TV about the launch of the resource.

What's The Holocaust Explained Resource?

Holocaust Explained Website ResourceThe 'Holocaust Explained' resource is the first ever student focused Holocaust education resource. LGfL has been working in partnership with the London Jewish Cultural Centre to produce a resource of outstanding quality and cultural and historical significance.

The project was launched on the 25th January 2011 at the Foreign Commonwealth Office by the Rt Hon Michael Gove.

The website will feature a vast range of media resources, historical documents and graphical representations of a wide range of aspects of the Holocaust.

‘I think studying the Holocaust is more relevant now than ever because..... Unfortunately..... There is still too much mis understanding between cultures, whether it be through prejudice, ignorance, or denial. Every year that I teach the subject – I refine my approach to emphasise with my students the importance of learning from the mistakes of the past committed in the name of politics / religion or other belief systems. The ‘Holocaust Explained’ has already become an essential tool in my resource collection – which I plan to use each and every year for both my Key stage 3 and examination classes.’

Carl Fazackerley  - Head of Humanities – City of London Academy
Holocaust Explained Pilot school – November 2010
