about LGfL's first resource for parents: Maths at home has launched for
Key Stage 1, adding to the existing, exciting KS2 content.
'Maths at home -
support for busy parents' is exactly what it says, and has been
incredibly successful since its KS2 launch in November. The addition of
KS1 coverage and an EYFS video makes it an all-through Primary resource
intended to equip parents to give the help they want to, but often do
not feel equipped for.
video has been made for each revised National Curriculum statement
across all Primary Key Stages. Each video is a snapshot of how many
schools may teach the particular strand, and also provides examples of
how parents could support their child at home. Where appropriate, video
content is reinforced with a selection of downloadable resources.
Maths at home
videos are designed to feel like they are taking place on a table at
home, encouraging communication, conversation and lots of fun while
working on them.
bring Maths to life, highlighting learning opportunities within cookery,
play, decorating and gardening. Most importantly, they aim to ignite
conversations between children and parents, and to make Maths a positive
and enjoyable experience outside of school.
encouraged to share the resource at workshops, parents' evenings and in
newsletters, so that parents feel supported as they help their child
with Maths at home.
‘This is top notch stuff from LGfL; we plan to use it immediately to strengthen home-school links’

‘This is an
excellent example of one London school developing outstanding practice
and resources, and then LGfL working in partnership to increase the
scale, scope and audience for the original idea.’
